Field report features a pipeline damaged by backhoe loader during installation. Resulting defect stretched across longitudinal seam weld and was successfully repaired using a Clock Spring repair sleeve. Despite having to use manual surface preparation, repair was completed within 1 day.
Where grit blasting was allowed, it was utilized. Otherwise, manual cleaning was done to prepare the pipe. Factors included severity of corrosion, work permits, and access. Various examples include defects with up to 90% wall loss repaired.
External corrosion caused by water entrapment and galvanic action at the pipe support location. Pipe could not be raised so blocks were inserted and the original pipe supports cut away and removed. Pipe was then hand prepared using wire brushes and sandpaper. All three repairs were completed in 2 hours, new pipe supports were reinstated and the blocks removed.
Various offshore riser repair applications including: long axial length sections, girth welds, bend repairs and high temperatures. Featuring repairs in North Sea, Asia, and Gulf of Mexico
Various topside repairs including tight access, hand spool installations on straight pipe; pipe supports; girth welds and bend repairs. Examples include repairs in North Sea, Asia and the Gulf of Mexico
Features multiple examples of how Snap Wrap repairs have been used in Process Plant environments to address external corrosion.
Extensive severe external corrosion for a 30m section where the pipeline passes through the bund wall at a tank farm.
Due to limited access following the excavation the 42” Clock Springs were installed using the spool feeder technique. Coils were installed side by side for the complete repair length.
Over 900 Clock Spring coils installed side by side using spool feeder and hand spool techniques to accommodate the tight clearance of adjacent pipes in the pipe rack. Repairs included straight lengths, girth welds and elbows.
Technical Sales Team member James Knights will be at StockExpo 2012, and you are invited to stop by Stand #43 to learn about Clock Spring’s experience for and around storage terminals.
8 metre section of mechanical damage caused by an excavator digging in the location of the main pipeline. 25 standard Clock Spring repair sleeves were installed to cover the complete length of repair and included bridging of the girth weld.
